@masterpiecepbs I’m obsessed with British drama on PBS. I love to watch Masterpiece Classics and Mysteries like Agatha Christie‘s Poirot with David Suchet, Upstairs Downstairs about 165 Eaton Place – new for 2011, the new Sherlock Holmes series, South Riding – a new series this year too, The Diary of Anne Frank (new for 2011) and other favorites from past seasons like Downtown Abbey, Cranford, Jane Austen, Pride & Prejudice, Jane Eyre, A Room with a View, Mansfield Park, Sense & Sensibility, and Bleak House. I have watched them all and never miss a new show or an episodes.

I love all of the intrigue and drama, mystery, and British accents. I don’t know if it is the fact that the British seem to be so much more proper and refined than us here in the US or that it reminds me of an age gone by but I just can’t get enough of these fabulous shows.

Because I don’t have a DVR – yes, I guess I’m a bit behind the times – I found that I must schedule my life around the next episode of my favorite British drama on PBS, which in my case is on Sunday night at 9 pm. That is not a problem most weeks but sometimes I am away at a conference or just can’t be in my favorite easy chair at that time.

The new series I just finished, South Riding, is a perfect example. I was away at a conference and was going to miss the last episode. When I came home I remember about it being available on my iPad PBS app and fired it up. The other 2 episodes were still there and waiting so I went back and watched episode 2 to catch up again and then watched the last episode too.

Of course, if you are as obsessed with British dramas on PBS like I am you might want to own them on DVD so you can watch them again and again. By making a purchase you also help support public television.

You also watch you favorite episodes online but I prefer the iPad. Recently we purchased an HDMI cable and digital adapter (buy both and save) and now hook up our iPad to the larger TV. I could never sit in front of my computer watching my favorite show.

Get this Free PBS app for the iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad at or through the App Store on your device.

Not only will you find the latest episodes of your favorite Masterpiece shows you will also find other popular PBS shows like NOVA, Frontline, Antique Roadshow, Nature, PBS News Hour and lots more.
