GlowCrazy Distance Doodler Magic Lightwand Toy Review

GlowCrazy is a cool toy for kids that allows them to draw using light instead of markers, pens, or crayons.  A special paper is used and can be stuck on the wall, ceiling or anywhere you like. The GlowCrazy light doodler shoots a green light beam that causes the paper to glow and become instant art.  The GlowCrazy also works from up to 10 feet away from the paper. The kids loved playing with it in the dark and were entertained the whole time we did the review.

GlowCrazy Distance Doodler Toy Review

The children in this video saw the GlowCrazy Distance Doodler for the very first time and here is a recap of what they thought about it.

They thought it was a lot of fun and cool to use. I spent about an hour with them and they used it the entire time I was there. At first we were all confused as to how to use it and if we had read the instructions closer and the text on the box it would have been more clear. We were unsure as to what to do with the sheets but finally realized you can use an entire sheet, put it on the wall or table and write on it with the laser pen. The sheet has a sticky side and can be put on the wall and easily removed and put somewhere else so it doesn’t ruin your walls. The kids also liked the idea that they could cut out shapes and put them on their wall as glow-in-the-dark shapes.

I asked the kids what they thought they liked and didn’t like about the GlowCrazy Distance Doodler. Brynn thought there should be steps 1 – 5 or Start Here in the booklet to get you started because it took us awhile to figure out what we should do and how to use the sheets.. She also said the Erase feature didn’t work so well or maybe it was unclear as to what it really did. She also suggested that it would be great to have it in different colors. She said the laser felt like you were spray painting and she really liked that.

Dad said the cost was a little high. He thought it should be around $15 for what you got. He also mentioned that there were instructions in the booklet for using a separate GlowCrazy toy and it made you think you were getting that toy in the box with the carrier. He suggested that be removed. Another thing he didn’t like was the fact that the batteries were not included. It requires 4 AAA batteries. And, the batteries he put in only lasted one hour. We did not know if his batteries were brand new or not. Dad also liked the fact that there was no mess for cleanup, it wouldn’t hurt your walls and was easy to remove, and the kids were entertained for quite awhile.

Pros:

  • Kids really like it
  • You can use the full sheet or cut out shapes
  • no mess and doesn’t hurt your wall

Cons:

  • Pricey
  • does not include batteries
  • instructions a little confusing
