Green Works Oxi Stain Remover Review

greenworks oxi stain remover review I received Green Works Oxi Stain remover to test out and here is what it did for me. While I didn’t use it on our clothes, we don’t tend to get a lot of hard stains on our clothing, I did use it in the bathroom where I have a heck of a time getting the grout clean. It basically stays black all of the time because no matter how hard I scrub it just won’t get any cleaner. Maybe we should just put a new layer of grout to cover it at this point. You would think I never clean from the looks of it but that is not true. I’m a clean freak and this grout issue has been a thorn in my side for awhile.

I mixed the OXI Stain cleaner powder with water as the container said and then put it on the stain. I actually used my little grout brush to scrub it into the grout to make sure it stayed put. When you mix the OXI Stain cleaner powder with water it doesn’t all mix too well and I haven’t figured out a great way to get it to go just on the stain I want for cleaning. I am sure you don’t have this problem if you are using it in the wash though since it is a liquid. If my stain was on the floor or counter it wouldn’t be a problem either but my stain is in the grout on the side of the tub so it didn’t work so well pouring it onto the stain from a cup. It would be nice if they sold it in a spray bottle or maybe I should have made up my solution in a spray bottle. I might do that so I can use it on this grout stain in the future.

I do have to say that there was no smell with this new OXI clean product. I was surprised because usually the smell is so strong you can’t stay in the same room very long. I did get some on my hand and it burned a little but I washed it off right away. If you are cleaning stains in the house a lot I would suggest you use rubber gloves.

My Results with Green Works OXI Clean

Well, I wish I had good results to share with you but if I am being honest I have to say this product did not work one bit for me. I followed the directions on the container and mixed 1/8 cap with 2 cups of water. I scrubbed it into the grout stain and also on the everyday stains on the side of the tub. I even waited for 3 minutes and scrubbed some more. Not one bit of the black came out of the grout.

To even get the stains off the side and bottom of the tub I had to scrub a lot and it all didn’t come off. I event poured some more of the powder on the bottom of the tub and mixed it with some water to try to make a paste and it didn’t paste up. It just stayed gritty because the granules didn’t mix too well.

I am super disappointed because I thought OXI clean was supposed to be great on stains. I use Scrubbing Bubbles to clean my tub and while it is super strong with the chemical smell it does work. It works so well I only have to clean for a few minutes with no scrubbing. For regular stains I use Soft Scrub and an abrasive sponge and that has worked well for many, many years. I’m back to square one to find something that works for the black stain on the grout in the tub.
