New Disney Junior Channel Features Jake and the Never Land Pirates

Have you heard? @Disney is launching a new Disney Junior 24-hour channel in January of 2012. This new channel is especially designed for children ages 2 to 5 and features shows such a the popular Jake and the Never Land Pirates.

As a matter of fact, Jake and the Never Land Pirates has become Disney Junior’s number 1 series for boys ages 2 to 5 and is on track to be Disney’s Channel’s #1 preschool series ever. Of course, this doesn’t mean that girls can’t watch it too. My daughter-in-law tells me that our granddaughters love watching Jake the the Never Land Pirates.

Let me tell you about it

Jake and the Never Land Pirates is a crew of kid pirates with leader Jake and pals Izzy and Cubby. The show follows their Never Land adventures as they work to outwit two infamous characters, the one and only Captain Hook and Mr. Smee, from Disney’s classic “Peter Pan.” Along the way, they model things like:

  • teamwork
  • problem-solving
  • physical activity

The series features original “pirate rock” music performed by Sharky and Bones of The Never Land Pirate Band.

During each episodes the characters talk directly toy your children inviting them to join in their adventure and learn how to solve problems as a team. As Jake and his buddies learn new things and solve pirate problems they earn gold doubloons. At the end of the episode they count them, teaching counting skills, and then put them in the team treasure chest.

All through the show Jake and the Never Land Pirate crew sing songs that your kids will sure to love and sing over and over.

Holiday Special!

Make sure you put the special Jake and the Never Land Pirates holiday episode, “It’s A Winter Never Land!/Hook On Ice,” on your calendar for FRIDAY DECEMBER 2, airing at 8:30-9 a.m. EST/PST. Or, if that is too early set your TIVO and tape it for your kids.

In the holiday episode of Jake and the Never Land Pirates, Jake, Izzy and Cubby awake to find that Peter Pan has left the crew some presents and a tree to celebrate Winter Treasure Day, and Captain Hook invites Jake and the crew on a winter treasure hunt.

Then, in in January the first-ever 45-minute series special and season two of the series will begin.

If you are a mom looking for programming for your preschool children you can catch the shows on the regular Disney Channel weekdays from 4:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m., ET/PT and weekends from 4:00–9:00 a.m., ET/PT. The new 24-hour Disney Junior standalone channel will launch in early 2012.
