Reserve Your Ford Focus Electric Car Now

@Ford has opened the reserving of their new Focus Electric vehicle through selected Certified Electric Vehicle (EV) dealers in New Jersey, New York, and California.  Ford is offering a limited number of the 2012 model, they did not state exactly how many will be manufactured, so if you are interested, you may want to reserve it soon.  If you live in neighboring states of New Jersey, New York, and California; you can possibly reserve one as well.

Ford is offering the Focus Electric by specific states / areas.  In mid 2012, the Focus Electric will be offered in: Arizona, Colorado, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, North Carolina, Oregon, Texas, Virginia and Washington.

The reserving process is fairly simple, but does require that you go to one of the closest Certified EV dealers.   Before going to a Certified EV dealer you can also build and price your Focus Electric, print the summary and take it with you when you visit the Certified EV dealer.

Ford states:  “Reservations can only be made with a Certified EV dealer from the list of participating dealers. Extended delivery time is anticipated and cannot be guaranteed for any reservation.”

Just a little bit about the Ford Focus Electric.  It is a totally electric vehicle requiring no fossil fuel for propulsion.  It uses a 92 kW electric motor power by a 23 kwh high-voltage liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery.  I have not been able to find what Ford is stating as miles per charge, but I was told by a Ford representative that the estimated range is 80 to 100 miles per charge, depending upon driving conditions and driver’s habits.    It comes standard with an 120 volt charging cord.  The charging connector on the Focus Electric will accept either 120 or 240 volt plugs.  The charge port on the Focus Electric accommodates a standard J1772 style coupler.

Pricing starts at a Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $39,220 and does not include:  “destination/delivery charge, taxes, title, and registration fees. Optional equipment shown, not included.”

When I built one with all options and the highest cost paint, the price was $40,690.  The only options that I saw were: color of paint and leather-trimmed seats.  There may be dealer options available that were not listed.
