Last week we took the kids to ice skate at Foxwoods Outdoor Ice Rink and Winter Park. The beautiful outdoor area is decorated with a 30′ decorated Christmas tree and large firepits are placed in 3 or 4 different spots so you can warm up in between skates.
The ice skating rink is maintained by a small crew that smooths it out once an hour. The rink is enclosed all of the way around so unsteady skaters can use to keep themselves upright while they are learning to skate. There are also ice skate trainer young kids can use. Our girls had a blast with these and it helped them not fall so much. There is lively music playing the background and there is at least one trained skater on the ice at all times to help those who fall and to keep things moving along.
Hot Chocolate can be purchased for $5.00 and you get a Foxwoods insulated mug, two hot cocoa packets and they provide hot water in the clubhouse. The clubhouse is where you put your skates on and warm up if it is too cold outside. There are chairs inside of the clubhouse if you want to take a break too.
