Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol Review

Greg and I went out to see Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol last night. We saw it at an IMAX theater (Rave Movies). It is the only way to see a movie like this. IMAX theaters are larger and have tall theater seats that rock and have a headrest. The screen is like 4 times as larger as a regular screen and they have huge speakers all around the room. The way they have the theater setup, there is no bad seat and you will never have someone blocking your view.

Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol is a thrill ride of action from start to finish. While Greg said the story was “a little far fetched” (probably because he used to be in the Navy and ride Submarines), it was pure entertainment. Tom Cruise (Ethan Hunt) is one scrappy dude and he can run like the wind so it is a joy to watch him. When he clings to the wall of the tallest building you have ever seen and swings from side to side you will feel your palms sweat.

We really enjoyed this action movie and think that if you are going to see it you do so at an IMAX theater to get the full experience. It is definitely a movie you could take your pre-teen to and not be shocked or worried about nudity or language. In the entire movie there was one swear word and just a tiny romantic scene, which was really nothing at all. Only one kiss in the whole movie. This movie is all about action and you won’t be disappointed.

Besides Tom Cruise, I have to say that my next favorite actor was Simon Pegg who played Benji Dunn. He showed real personality and gave the movie some comic relief now and then.

Kelly Rutherford Supports Safe Horizons at Urban Sanctuary

This past week we attended a charity shopping event at Faconnable in New York City. Kelly Rutherford, from Gossip Girls, was the official host. She arrived wearing her favorite Faconnable shift dress. She was met by Hills star, Stephanie Pratt, and other celebrities who attended the evening’s shopping event.

The Urban Sanctuary celebrity shopping event at Faconnable was put together to support the Safe Horizon charity. A portion of the sales during this 3-day shopping event were given to Safe Horizons to support their efforts.

Safe Horizons is the nation’s leading victim assistance organization and it helps more than 250,000 that are affected by crime and abuse each year. Whether they are responding to child abuse, domestic violence, or other violent crimes, they help victims and their families heal and rebuild their lives.

Safe Horizons takes action by providing practical services like a new lock, 24-hour hotlines, safe shelter and food as well as supportive services like mental health counseling. They also raise awareness of issues of violence and abuse, its impact on the home, the workplace and in communities.

Guests at this event were asked to bring a toy. All toys were delivered to the children that Safe Horizon serves.

Rockerfeller Center Christmas Tree Time Lapse Video

It’s not Christmas until the tree comes to Rockerfeller Center in the heart of New York City. We are lucky to go there every year and see it and feel the Christmas spirit that it brings to the city. The best part is when we arrive the tree and all of the lights are already in place. It takes a lot of man hours to get the tree from the woods where it is cut to New York City and decorated for the season.

Watch this time lapse video that was shot by NBC News to see the progress in super fast speed. You can see the 74-foot Norway Spruce’s installation in just one minute. The tree will be lit with 30,000 solar powered LED bulbs for a grand lighting ceremony on November 30.
