I just received a Crackpot™ and iceorb® from fusionbrands® to test out. Before we go further with our review, let me explain exactly what a Crackpot™ from fusionbrands® is. It is a bowl specially designed for cracking eggs. Now that is out of the way, let’s go on with the reviews.
Crackpot
If you are like me, whenever, I crack eggs using the side of a regular bowl, I usually end up with shell pieces in the bowl and/or an egg with a wide, mashed up hole. I do not like digging out shell pieces from other ingredients I have in the bowl nor do I like eating them.
The Crackpot™ is designed with a narrow plastic blade on one side for cracking eggs to help with this. The bowl sides around and below the blade are narrower than the rest of the sides, this helps in reducing egg shell fragments and results in a better crack in the egg.
In addition to the blade, the Crackpot™ has a handle on one side that allows one to hold the bowl without their thumb being inside the bowl. The handle makes pouring from the bowl a lot easier. The bowl also has a rudder ring in the outside bottom to help it from slipping / sliding on a counter.
Overall, I liked the Crackpot™ and believe it will be a useful kitchen bowl. Maybe in the future, they will come out with one that is recommended for microwave use.
The Crackpot Retails for $12.00. You can purchase the Crackpot online through the Fusionbrands site or find a store in your local area with their store locator.

iceorb
When I saw the iceorb®, I thought now that is a product that we could definitely use, especially in the hazy, lazy summer nights when we sat out on our deck having frozen margaritas and a fire in our Chimenea. What I also liked about it was the fact that it is relatively small and takes little space in out freezer, which is a good thing because our refrigerator does not have an ice maker in the door or freezer section. Regular ice cube trays take up too much space in the freezer. Typically, we buy a bag of ice, but it too, takes up too much space. So, the iceorb® looked like it would solve the space issue.
The reason it takes little space is because it is a vertical ice tray that has multiple functions. It makes 21 ice cubes at a time and then those can be stored in the bucket that goes in the center of the orb while you make more ice cubes. A lid covers your ice to keep them odor free. The bucket can also be used as a cooler to hold dips, salads, and beverages.
The iceorb® is easy to use, just fill it with water to fill line, insert the bucket into the orb, and place in the freezer. Once the cubes are freezer, it is easy to remove the ice (detailed instructions are provided).
iceorb Specs:
- Makes 21 cubes of ice on a vertical wall
- Stores up to 51 cubes – airtight and odor free
- Chills wine and other beverages in a bottle
- Use as a cooler to keep cold foods fresh while serving
- Use lid under orb while serving to catch condensation
- Spill-proof design
- Dishwasher safe – top rack only
- 6″ diameter x 5″ tall
The iceorb® is working out great for us. Now we have more room in our freezer and plenty of ice when we need it. My only suggestion is that the fill line be a darker color so it would be easier to see.
This video explains how the iceorb is used better than I can. Watch it and see what you think.
