Give your garage door instant curb appeal with afford, decorative hardware. If your garage door is plain white and could use a little sprucing up, we’ve got a quick and easy upgrade you can do in a half hour that will give your garage doors instant curb appeal. Using carriage door hardware will make your garage doors, whether they are new or older, look like a million bucks!
We only added one of the handles to our garage door because it didn’t have a wide space in between the panels to make it look good with two handles. Our garage door seems to have more “panels” than others we have seen so two handles may work for your door.
Carriage door hardware is super affordable and takes literally a half hour to install too. They are a very attractive and an appealing addition to a garage door. You would also add the carriage door hardware to gates, garden fences and other types of door too so they have lots of versatile uses.
Just like paint goes a long way in making old furniture look new, adding garage door hardware does the same thing and it is so much cheaper than buying a new garage door. The self-tapping screws that come with the hardware kit, a drill and power screwdriver, you can install them in a jiffy.
We purchased our Carriage Garage door hardware on Amazon and found out that there is a reason they have a 5-star rating. They are made from quality materials and include screws that line up perfectly in the pre-drilled holes. Shipping is free too if you have Amazon Prime and buy at least two sets. You will need two sets if you have two garage doors.
This garage door hardware set is extremely well manufactured and priced so well in comparison to what you will find locally. You will rave about the quality and appearance! We have had no issues with ours. I like that the metal has a “brushed” finished too.
How to Install Carriage Door Hardware:
Equipment you will need:
- Crown Bolt Decorative Garage Door Kit
- painters tape (optional)
- electric drill
- Phillip’s Head screwdriver (manual or bit for electric drill)
- ruler/tape measure
- pencil/washable pen
- ladder
Be patient and allow yourself time to measure carefully so that all of your hinges line up the same. We used painter’s tape and taped ours first before drilling holes in the garage doors.
1. Using a pencil or washable pen, mark where you want your hinges to do on the garage door. Mark a dot inside of each screw hole. If you use painters tape you can place a piece of tape where you put the pencil/pen mark and then step back from the doors to make sure your hinges will be placed where you want them.
2. Using an electric drill, drill holes where you have placed the markings.
3. Using a Phillip’s head screwdriver or adding a Phillip’s head screwdriver bit to your electric drill, screw in the Phillip’s screws into the holes.
How easy was that? Voila! Instant Curb Appeal!
Optional Design Ideas:
Don’t want black hardware on your garage door. Paint them first with Rusto-leum any color you like. You can always paint them black again if you don’t like how the color turned out or want to change it in the future. Ruto-leum protects the surface from the elements.
Use heavy-duty magnets to attach your garage door hardware instead of putting holes in the door. By using magnets you can easily remove them, repaint, or even take them with you if you move.
Want even more garage door curb appeal? Add carriage windows to make your garage doors look expensive and high end.
These carriage garage door hardware sets are such a great accessory to any new garage door. You can even leave off the handles in the center if you don’t want to use them. Applying them to the garage doors is quick and easy and takes a plain garage door and makes it into a showpiece! Your garage doors will now have such curb appeal and become a focal point and get compliments from the neighbors. We highly recommend this!
