Disclaimer: The fine folks at Little Debbie sent us an assortment of Little Debbie snacks cakes to test out. We received Cloud Cakes, Swiss Rolls, Cosmic Brownies, and new Banana Pudding Rolls. All opinions about this product are 100% our own and we were not influenced by Little Debbie to write this review.

Little Debbie snack cakes are a staple in our house and have always been in our kids lunches. I eat them at night as a treat with my hot tea. If you aren’t a snack cake or snack-eating family then this review won’t matter to you but if you are, and a huge portion of society is, you will want to read what I found out about the Little Debbie Cloud Cakes.

About Little Debbie Cloud Cakes

Little Debbie has come out with its new snack cakes called Cloud Cakes, which are light, crème-filled golden sponge cakes. There are 10 individually wrapped Little Debbie Cloud Cakes in one carton. The suggested retail price is $3.09 a carton.

When you see them they will remind you of a similar cake but there are a few differences. Since they are modeled after this other brand it is fair to compare.

The Price: Price is one reason we choose Little Debbie snack cakes in our house over other brands. Why pay more for a snack if you don’t have to I say. While they say they retail for $3.09 a box we can get them at our local Walmart for about 25% less and even less at our military Commissary.  That is half the price of Twinkies.

The Taste: OMG, they taste very similar to Twinkies, just slightly denser. They have the light and fluffy cake on the outside and creamy on the inside. They are not exactly like a Twinkie but for the added savings they are a good replacement

I have to admit, I have never actually tried the Little Debbie Cloud cakes because I wasn’t sure they would stand up to Twinkies and I do like them a lot. I would definitely buy this snack cake to replace the Twinkies based on the taste and price.

I can’t wait to try the new Banana Pudding Rolls. I haven’t seen these in stores and I hope they offer them soon. I am sure they will be just as scrumptious as the rest of the Little Debbie Snack Cake line.

  • nothing other than any other snack cake has like added sugar, more calories, etc in your diet

  12. My almost 20 year old son loves Valentines Day because his absolute favorite treat are the Little Debbie Valentine cakes (the pink heart shaped ones)! I prefer the Swiss Cake Rolls.

  14. Got carried away & forgot to read all of the rules, lol. My personal favorite is the Swiss Cake Rolls. My husband likes the Oatmeal Cream Pies, and my kids (the ones w/o allergies) like the rest.

  20. I love all Little debbie’s, but I will say the swiss cake rolls are my all time favorite, and if you put them in the fridge for a little while ahhhhhhhhhhhh the chocolate peels off piece by piece..How I wish I had one now. LOL

  25. My Dad’s and my favorite Little Debbie snack cakes are the Honey Buns! They are delicious with our coffee in the morning or whenever we need a snack. My sister-in-law always gives my Dad the large box of Honey Buns on special occasions. He buys Honey Bun’s every week when he grocery shops. He says he can’t live without them 🙂 He has been eating them for over 12 years now and he is 88 years young!

  41. I LOVE the oatmeal creme flavor. The texture is interesting and tasty. The downside is how addictive they are! Who wants a boring ol’ oatmeal cookie when you can have one of these?!?!

  55. I love all the Little Debbie snack cakes but my favorite is the Fudge Rounds….They are always so fresh and chocolaty…they just melt in your mouth so you have to eat a couple at a time….lol

  59. I enjoy the zebra cakes the best. Whenever I open one I take a moment to savor the aroma. Then I carefully remove one cake & start to nibble the edges off. Once all the edges are devoured, I go for the sides. This makes the top & bottom layers peel right off. Then I am left with the cake & creamy icing. Next thing I know the other cake is in my hand & the process has begun again. Love’m!:):)

  62. We LOVE Little Debbie in our household!! They are inexpensive yummy treats that are sure to please everyone. Our favorites are the Valentine Hearts, Nutty Bars, Honey Buns and Cupcakes. We haven’t tried these yet and would love too!!

  88. Its to hard to pick one…haha my favorites are the fudge brownies, oatmeal creme pies, star crunch and swiss cake rolls. My mom and I used to share one as a treat when I was little, little debbie makes great memories! 🙂

  92. My favorite LD snake cake is Swiss rolls…. no wait, the chocolate cupcakes…no, its the Peanut Butter Bars… then again the Strawberry Shoortcake rolls are tasty too. Do I really need to pick one??!? Ilove Little Debbie Snacks!

  144. I have to say, I grew up on Little Debbie Snack Cakes. My favorites are the “Devil Squares” and “Banana Twins.” They are so packed full of flavor and just hit the spot whenever I need that pick-me-up after a long day at work or just want to reward myself for…well, I just love’em. Don’t mess with my “Devil-Twins” or you’re gonna lose that hand….CHOMP!! 🙂

  161. Little Debbie all time favorites at my house: Caramel Cookie Bars, oatmeal cream pies, nutty bars, swiss rolls, devil squares, donut sticks, fancy cakes… etc! I don’t think they have one product that is not good – although not good for your diet! lol

  174. Oh, I love the nutty bars and honey buns. Mom used to pack our favorites in the summer when we would go camping and swimming and it always would be the nutty bars hands down.

    We stock up on Little Debbie snack cakes when we get to Pamida because we live 110 miles from town where we can purchase them!!! Love ’em.

  238. I love Little Debbie’s Swiss Rolls. My grandma loved them; she used to have a box of either those or Nutty Bars in her bread box on the counter. She was a pretty frugal person, but those were one of her few splurges. So, when I eat Little Debbie I think of my grandma and remember those good times with her.

  287. I like several Little Debbie snacks, but my favorite is the Christmas Tree Cakes. I like the white ones. The more sprinkles, the better. I anxiously wait all year for them to come out. Then starting at the end of October, my grandma and I check for them every time we go to the store and each year we try to find them before the other person does. And of course whoever finds them first buys some for the other person.

  303. Our whole family has loved Little Debbie ever since I can remember. This is definitely a tradition of our family to have Little Debbie cakes around after each meal for a snack and something nice and sweet to enjoy. My favorite is “Honey Buns” I just love the icing that melts in your mouth and the soft sweet bread that just sends your taste buds into overdrive. My husbands favorite is Nutty Bars and my little girl loves the holiday cakes. She loves how they look but most of all how they taste!! You need at least 5 boxes of Little Debbie’s at one time in each house around the country!!
